Lydia Taft Pratt Library

Established 1914, we're conveniently located in the Dummerston Community Center, at 150 West Street, in the heart of West Dummerston village. The library is regularly open for business four days each week:

  • Tuesdays from 2 - 6 PM
  • Wednesdays from 1 - 5 PM
  • Thursdays from 1 - 5 PM
  • Saturdays from 10 AM - 1 PM

Library Board of Trustees Meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:15 pm, in the library. All are welcome to attend.

We now offer Recorded Books, free audio books and e-books, to library patrons. To access this service, click on the link (to the left.) Register with your 14-digit library card number and create a user name. Download the app to your device. For library name select Vermont Department of Libraries.

Enter Lydia Taft Pratt Library for the name. No password is required. Once logged in, you are able to search by author, title or subject. You may also search only for new additions by typing LTPLN, a space, the year, month, and an asterisk (for example: LTPLN 201504*)

The Vermont Online Library (VOL) offers a wide array of electronic information databases on a variety of topics geared to a variety of age levels, for both the novice and the expert. The information is produced by known and trusted publishers and licensed by the State of Vermont. Quick-link buttons for the databases are provided below, for your convenience.

Heritage Quest is one of the largest collections of online genealogical and local history content available. Now powered by, HeritageQuest offers access to many databases, including U.S. Federal Census data, Genealogy and local history books and directories, Revolutionary War Records, Freedman's Bank Records, U.S. Serial Set, and the impressive Periodical Source Index (PERSI) Archive (1800-2009). Universal Class is an educational service providing over 500 high-quality online courses for patrons (generally high-school age and older) interested in the lifelong pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. Contact your library for the login information.

  • • Baby/Toddler Play Group - (up to 24 months with caregiver), Wednesdays, 2:00 PM. Children learn as they play. Unstructured. Explore hands-on activities and connect with other grown-ups.
  • • Family Story Time - First Saturday of the month, 11:00 AM. Children (ages 2-5 with a favorite adult) enjoy books, songs, rhymes, movement, and fun crafts, while building language and literacy skills.

The Library's annual GERANIUM FESTIVAL and BOOK SALE is held the 3rd Saturday in May. Come Out and Support Your Public Library.
